As it was expected that Caffeine will slip in search in late 2009, it is now live on one Data Center. Before few days Matt Cutts intimated about the Google caffeine will be live soon . Caffeine will be live on other data centers after the holidays.

Matt Cutts from Google confirmed that Caffeine is live 50% of the time in the 209.85.225.103 data center.

Update from Matt cutts:

My plane landed and I had time to check. 209.85.225.103 as an IP address currently hits the Caffeine data center about 50% of the time, so that’s probably what the person at DP was seeing.

I think it’s really risky to take a few threads and turn that into a “major Google update.” For example, one of the links you pointed to was asking about the rankings for their site webtlk.com. Given links like http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:iwkj8P8xoSEJ:teqtonik.com/+http://teqtonik.com/&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a talking about data recovery and pointing to that site, I’m guessing that Google just got better at determining how much weight should be given to links to that site.

So 209.85.225.103 does hit the Caffeine data center more often than other IP addresses, but it’s always been the plan that Caffeine would roll out at one data center (no more data centers will get Caffeine until at least January).

But I would avoid generalizing, at least as going by the one report that mentioned a specific site that I looked into. Of course, on a lot of the webmaster forums you can’t tell what site they’re talking about, so it’s hard to do any debugging on what might have happened to individual sites there.

Google ranking factors in the year 2010. Matt cutts explained in PubCon Session in Lass Vegas

At PubCon Session in Lass Vegas Yesterday Matt Cutts from Google described the ranking factors that you should emphasis in the year 2010. He cleared one thing that Google co-founder wants the web to be very fast just like flipping a magazine. The thing that goes clear with this statement is that you now have to look more on to page size and loading time of that.

We all know that page load time is an important factor in search engine rankings but not it is going to be more pressed corner. Fast pages will rank higher than slow once. Matt basically implied that in 2010, it will be one additional factor.

Let’s keep in mind two things:

(1) There are over 200 ranking factors in the algorithm and each are weighted differently. If I had to guess, page speed would not be a tremendously weighed factor, unless the site takes 90 seconds to load.

(2) I monitor complaints from the AdWords (and organic) side of webmasters and virtually no one complains that their quality score is low because of having a slow site. I would have to assume the same speed criteria would be applied from the quality score page speed requirements to the organic side of things. So if advertisers rarely, if never, complain about it – one would assume non-advertisers would also not complain much about that as a reason for their site’s poor ranking.

Google invited users to test the next generation search structure called Google Caffeine and the got that users are interested in the new search platform. Now the Google caffeine search index will go live soon, just after the holidays.

Now the Google caffeine sandbox from www2.sandbox.Google.com is removed and Google is now distributing a message to it’s users.

We appreciate all the feedback from people who searched on our Caffeine sandbox.

Based on the success we’ve seen, we believe Caffeine is ready for a larger audience. Soon we will activate Caffeine more widely, beginning with one data center. This sandbox is no longer necessary and has been retired, but we appreciate the testing and positive input that webmasters and publishers have given.

I Think Google decided to do this after the holidays just because the feedback Google got after the Florida update 2003 in which Google updated the index just before the shopping season and major sellers dropped down. The huge concern effectively caused Google to swear off making major changes to rankings during this heavy sales period.

Yesterdays blog of twitter says that they have added technology which will help to show higher quality results for trend queries by returning tweets that are more useful and relevant. Trends shows us the latest updates that are around us but are less helpful when we talk about relevancy and also are less interesting.

Few know that Twitter has its own search engine that provides latest updates in the form of tweets this search engine can be found at http://search.twitter.com . This is the main reason of twitter popularity that it is a source of latest trends. People twit there about what they are doing, what updates they are finding, about there business or services.

Currently Twitter search returns us the results based on keyword match and the most recent tweets. But twitter is going to get to point. Have a look what twitter blog says.

today we’re starting to experiment with improvements to trends that will help you find more relevant tweets. Specifically, we’re working to show higher quality results for trend queries by returning tweets that are more useful. The improvement won’t be very noticeable at first, but this is a small step toward unearthing more value in search and getting you more relevant results.

RSS : Syndicating in Real time

RSS is a acronym formed of three words that are Really Simple Syndication. Actually this is the mostly used for RSS, others include Rich Site Summary, RDF Site Summary, or a variation of those. It was build up as a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites but at present it is not only used for conveying news over the web, pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated using really simple syndication method.

RSS is a text based format mostly used with XML. RSS are also called RSS feeds or channels. It simply contains items that are to be conveyed over the internet. Once the information or data about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-reader program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way for what they are developed. We can describe it as it is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works.

Why RSS ?

Websites the content of which is changed in unpredictable manner are to be watched regularly by the website users, for example weblogs, news sites, religious sites come under this category the content of which is regularly changing. Repeatedly checking each website to see if there is any new content can be very tedious for website users. The previous solution of this problem was e-mail notification to subscribers but if failed as users get hundreds of messages and they got disorganized in their inbox. So another way of syndication was required for users that appeared with the name RSS.

It solves the problem of users that need regular updated information of any website.

For Sign Language Please Click Here

How does RSS work?

RSS can’t do anything by itself as it is a feed in XML format if you open it in a browser you will see XML code that is hardly readable by most of the users. Special softwares are developed for this purpose and these are known as aggregators. RSS-Aggregators are sometimes called rss-feed readers or rss channels. If you are interested in updates of any website and want to be a regular user of that you just need to subscribe the feed of website of your interest. You can catch content of multiple website on a single web page and the visitors may be interested in using that content.

Generating an RSS feed of a website is very simple and thousands of websites are now providing this feature. This have now become a necessity of major news organizations and weblogs.

Camino is Mozilla’s Mac-based web browser. Its a Firefox product and FF has a solid following among Mac users who appreciate its speed. Its a lightweight and fast browser compared to firefox.

Camino is a feature rich web browser and includes several features including Phishing and Malware Protection, Content zoom, fast updates etc. Of course, it has been almost a year since Camino 2.0 first went into beta testing in last December and it’s still not done yet. Meanwhile, in that time, there have been three official releases of Google chrome but there is no Mac version of it available till now.

The interesting thing here is the developer of Camino Mike Pinkerton has now joined Google to develop Mac version of Chrome. Now it seems that the development of Camino will be neglected. But Mike assured that development on Camino would continue. Pinkerton is currently a Technical Lead for Google Desktop for Mac.

If this not affects development of Camino it is for sure that mozilla will continue to lead the sector but if it affects then probability is Chrome can capture mac browser market.

At the Web 2.0 Summit today in San Francisco, Google’s Marissa Mayer unexpectedly came on stage to unveil a new product. Google is now planning to offer Twitter search as well.

Mayer shared that there is a new Google product called “Social Search” that is launching soon in Google Labs. Google has now announced that it, too, has struck a deal with Twitter to include real-time tweets in Google’s search results. By this deal it is clear that Google know the importance of Twitter real time search results.

Probably Microsoft deal with twitter has forced Google to announce this. Microsoft has already brought twitter to its users you can easily get it on http://www.bing.com/twitter.

Now Google is planning to embed twitter real time search results with Google results. Have a look what Google says:

Given this new type of information and its value to search, we are very excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months. That way, the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favorite ski resort, you’ll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information.

Microsoft also announced that soon Facebook will be with them. Facebook status updates will also be featured on the search engine. Now this is the thing that can force Google to have a deep thought on……

Google combines Google maps with flu data. Google Flu Trends uses aggregated Google search data to estimate current flu activity around the world in near real-time. Google combines Google search terms with data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to determine where the next flu outbreak might occur. This is now available for 16 additional countries and also the site is available in 37 languages.

Google Flu Trends is based on relationship between how many people search for flu-related topics and how many people actually have flu symptoms. By tracking the popularity of certain Google search queries, now the level of flu activity can be estimated, in near real-time.

Google Flu Trends provides near real-time estimates of flu activity for a number of countries and regions around the world, based on aggregated search queries. Some of these estimates have been validated through comparison with official historical influenza data from the relevant country or region.

If you are creating a quality website then it is obvious you might think of using AJAX features in it, but if you take a suggestion from SEO expert, you will definitely change your mood of using AJAX. Its because AJAX is not Crawl-able. AJAX-based websites are not crawled by crawlers, they are essentially a locked and bolted door when a spider comes for crawling. AJAX-based websites are popular with users, search engines traditionally are not able to access any of the content on them.

Today Google putted a proposal of making AJAX Crawlable. This is definitely going to benefit webmasters and users by making content from rich and interactive by using AJAX. Now it will become universally accessible through search results on any search engine that chooses to take part. This is Google’s next step towards improving the web.
